Scientifically proven, when an odour is inhaled it impinges on the Olfactory Epithelium which contains some 20 million nerve endings. The odour is transmuted into a nerve message, which is amplified by the olfactory bulb and then passes along the olfactory tract and enters the Limbic System. The odour/nerve message is first analysed by the amygdala and hippocampus which are the memory centres which also play a major role in emotional responses. At this point the odour may trigger a memory, whether recent or distant. The message is then passed on to the hypothalamus which acts as a regulator and relay station, with the option of sending messages onto several other parts of the brain.

Euphoric odours eg citrus essential oils, tend to stimulate the thalamus to secrete neuro~chemicals called enkephalins. These incidentally act as painkillers, but also induce feelings of well-being, or euphoria, thus making us feel uplifted. Aphrodisiac odours, eg floral essential oils, result in stimulation of the pituitary gland, which then may secrete endorphins. These are also pain killers and can induce both euphoria and feelings of arousal. The pituitary gland also governs the other endocrine glands in the body.

Sedating odours, eg herbaceous essential oils cause the brain to stimulate the raphe nucleus which then releases serotonin, a sedative neurochemical. Stimulating essential oils affect the locus ceruleus which then releases noradrenaline into the brain. This has the effect of wakening us up.

Perfumery, a sophisticated story narrated in the language of essential oils, fragrance, scent and odours are explained in layers of notes, top, heart (middle) and base notes ~ the first impression is always your top note, it is the one we call 'love at first scent', followed by the heart notes which stays longer than your top note, this is typically full-bodied and since this forms the core of your fragrance it is dominant and lingers for what is to follow ~ your base note which is designed to remain once your fragrance has fully settled and has a longer lasting effect as it interacts like a melody flirting in-between the top and heart notes. Our Limited Edition Perfumed Oil Collection at Ayutique Emotionalé ~ Natural Chemistry is inspired by designer fragrances and we pride our high quality, pure luxurious essential oil perfumes on authentic  ingredients.

As a connoisseur of authentic scent you will find that it is mostly rare and exotic ingredients that are selected in our formulas. Oud is known as black gold, a pungent, yet precious aromatic, made from one of the rarest woods in the world, a tropical evergreen known as Aquilaria. Oud wood owes its intense fragrance to the rich resin produced by the Aquilaria Crassna Tree in response to an exterior attack from fungus or parasite. Oud has been around for close to a thousand years, yet only gained its prominent popularity in the western world for just over ten. However, in that time, it’s impacted the fragrance industry like never before. Oud boosts harmony and cognition, and thought to bring mental clarity.

Why do we love Oud? ... First and foremost, it’s mysterious. Oud has a deep, smoky and complex aroma that is difficult to categorise. It’s wild and intense, yet warming, which makes it ideal for blending a variety of ways to achieve creating unique aromatic compositions . Today’s top perfumers have taken Oud in many diverse directions, combining it with citrus elements, floral essences, herbaceous notes and many more, resulting in different forms of Oud that appeal to our own personalised tastes in fragrance. Each fragrance in the Oud Limited Edition Collection is distinctive, a unique take on Oud complemented by various pure essences that tells a story of mystery and intrigue. Exotic never felt so elegant and refreshing.

Neroli Blossom... This is a truly uplifting natural treasure. Neroli Blossom is the perfect fragrance worn mostly in spring or summer, however it can be worn any day even during autumn or winter.  Neroli is wonderfully balanced with a delightful refreshing citrus floral fragrance. Elements of bergamot, lemon and mandarin zest combine with a herbal whisper. The heart is full blooming Neroli blossoms. As aforementioned, neroli essential oil is obtained from the flowers of the bitter orange tree and is considered to be a very pricey natural oil. The blossoms of the bitter orange tree are petite, whitish and highly scented. It also needs to be mentioned again that neroli essential oil is not obtained through steam distillation, but by a method known as solvent distillation using water. This is primarily owing to the fact that the blossoms of the bitter orange trees are very fragile and cannot endure steam distillation. Neroli oil has a unique chemical composition. The oil is composed of over thirty distinct compounds including nerolidol, alpha-terpineol, alpha-terpinyl acetate, and farnesol.  This natural oil possesses sedative as well as stimulant properties that are beneficial for the nervous system. It can be used to treat most of the problems related to stress and tension having an emotional origin.

Palo Santo...  Bursera Graveolens is a mystical tree that grows on the coast of South America and is related to Frankincense, Myrrh and Copal. In Spanish, the name literally means "Holy Wood". It is part of the citrus family and has sweet notes of pine, mint and lemon.

The symptoms and causes of depression, anxiety and sleep disorders are complex. Palo Santo wood does not boast a cure, but a smudging or essential oil practice integrated as part of a larger healing plan can provide some relief. Consider it aromatherapy, releasing a calming scent to the olfactory and limbic systems of the body and brain and in turn creating a sense of relaxation and calm.

earlier on you read “Vix medicatrix naturae” ~ this simply means ~ ”The healing power of nature”, or “the vital force is the medicine”
